I'm just wondering if anyone else has actually researched vaccinations and whether they are safe & effective. I have been reading some eye-opening information on line and in some books. One book by Neil Z. Miller is particularly interesting...it's called "Vaccines: Are They Really Safe and Effective." I have another book waiting at the library for me. Anyway...just wondering if anyone else has thought about or researched this topic.

That was one of the first books I read and found it very helpful! You can browse around on Mothering.com for some helpful info such as delaying vaccinations or selectively vaccinating. If you have questions about state laws, you can visit NVIC.org's page on state exemptions. 'Tis better to be informed than not.
And above all I recommend doing the research on your own- not based upon another person, blogger's, or doctor's research or experience. And go with your heart!

We've followed the standard schedule with Joshua, and aren't sure we want to do so with Lydia. (Some things like chicken pox don't seem worthwhile to me to be vaccinating for before a kid has at least had a few years to get them naturally.)I have several friends who have done extensive research on the topic, coming to various conclusions on schedules and the yes/no/later questions of vaccination. They all recommended the same book, but I'm blanking on the name of it right now. I'll pass along the title and author when I get it in writing from them.
Super cute girlies, by the way--they look like so much fun! Too bad we're not closer so they could play together. :-)
I've looked a bit into vaccines, but not too much. One thing I do know is that without certain vaccines, kids can't go to daycares or school. But I guess if you're homeschooling, that doesn't matter so much.
